Great progress at camp this week. Jeff Severinghaus and the core loggers made it to camp. The first core of the season came up. The third entrance to the arch, which is required for safety reasons, was cleared of snow. This was much harder than it sounds and critical to starting drilling. Christmas was celebrated with a grand meal and gift exchange. Jeff Severinghaus has determined we can deepen the hole another 40 m and be confident we will not connect to the basal water system. After deepening the hole 40 more meters, geophysics will be done that may provide additional information that will allow us to drill deeper.

The detailed SITREPs are attached.
